I started my training at Somerset College of Art and Technology with a BTEC National Diploma in General Art and Design. I finished this is July 1994 and I went on to study for a BA(Hons) Arts and Humanities Degree in Fine Art at De Montfort University in Leicester.

On completing my degree in 1997 I followed a path into retail and used my flare for visual colour and design in visual merchandising and window dressing.

After many years I realised how much I missed painting and the time in the studio. So after some great opportunities, my husband and I moved and changed our pace of life. We now live in the Forest of Dean and feel so happy we made those choices when we did.

Inspiration for me comes from the plants with their scent, a change in the weather or the seasons. All these observations use my passion for colour and shape and have always been at the heart of my work, my paintings work less with realism in nature and more with the creation of sculptural forms that are made between the outlines.

Flowers and organic forms feature heavily in all aspects of my work abstracting and depicting movement from a small snap shot of time. I work to enhance the shapes and patterns through my use of texture and layering of paint. This difference in depth also helps to define the highlights and shadows of my chosen subject matter bringing the painting to life.

My commission work has broadened my style and allowed me to experiment with new subjects and techniques which I would otherwise not have considered. I feel that these new challenges continually add to the development of my paintings. Frames and Mount-boards can be supplied with your choice of painting and will be discussed on an individual basis.
