“Flutter-By Freesia” – the first in my new Butterfly Freesia Collection – is finally ready to take flight.
All soft lilacs, feather-light petals, and a sense of movement caught in stillness.
Each piece in this collection takes around six weeks to come to life – with layers of thinned oil paint built up slowly, allowing for drying time between every stage. Because of this rhythm, I work on the whole collection together – letting the paintings breathe and bloom. It’s a quiet, meditative process. Like waiting for a bloom to open, or watching a butterfly hover and vanish. “Flutter-By” captures that fleeting magic – a whisper of summer, held in paint. Can you see it?
